Jim Davis

Jim solves difficult powder processing problems and optimizes complex powder systems for efficient operation. During his 26 years at Procter & Gamble (P&G)—15 years in powder processing alone—Jim honed his extensive leadership and project management skills. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Cincinnati and a professional engineer’s license in the State of Ohio. He has developed a wide variety of training modules for overview courses for chemical engineers; simplified courses for plant operators; detailed course work in powder mixing, pneumatic conveying and grinding. He continues to provide training, problem solving and systems optimization consultation worldwide.

Presenter: Paul Edwards of Compressed Air Consultants
Paul Edwards

Paul Edwards is President and Founder of Compressed Air Consultants, arguably one of two leading compressed air engineering firms in the country. He has 29 years of experience in the compressed air world including stints as North American marketing manager, global product manager for Ingersoll Rand. CAC has a reputation for its evaluative independence free of ties to specific compressor companies, safeguarding client interests against unnecessary compressor equipment expenditures and emphasizing better usage and control of existing machines. An effective communicator with strong technical know-how and passion for excellence, Paul is known for quality customer-driven training of company personnel from executive level to plant line operators. Presenter: Kerry Johanson of Material Flow Solutions.
Kerry Johanson

Dr. Kerry Johanson got an early start in dry material handling as a summer lab technician with Jenike & Johanson in Billerica, Massachusetts during his high school and undergraduate years. Receiving his BS degree in 1985, Kerry spent 14 years with JR Johanson, Inc. in San Luis Obispo California serving as Chief Technical Officer. In 2001, he founded Material Flow Solutions, Inc. and serves as the the company’s Chief Operations Officer. He has authored more than 30 technical papers; developed a course for teaching powder flow technology to graduate students, and has mentored three recent doctoral graduates at the University of Florida. Dr. Johanson holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering and is an active member of AAPS, AIChE, and ASTM.

Presenter: Gary Q. Johnson of Workplace Exposure Solutions.
Gary Q. Johnson

With a degree in Chemical Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration, Gary Q. Johnson has worked on numerous industrial hygiene and combustible dust projects related to industrial ventilation. He assists clients in the pharmaceutical, coatings, plastic film, plastics compounding, tree resin, metal fabrication, paper, and consumer products industries. He is a member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE). He is active on technical committees, currently as a member of the recently formed ANSI/Z9.12 “Combustible Dust Collection Systems.”He is a past member of the ACGIH Industrial Ventilation Committee and a member of the ISPE team which developed the 2nd edition of the Baseline Pharmaceutical Engineering Guide for Oral Solid Dosage Forms, leading the chapter team for Environmental Health & Safety considerations. Gary is the author of numerous magazine articles on industrial ventilation and combustible dust, a web seminar presenter, and a classroom trainer, including the OSHA Training Institute. Active on the training circuit, Gary consistently receives high marks for his classroom and web seminar training courses.

Presenter: Eric P. Maynard, Sr. Consultant, Jenike & Johanson.
Eric P. Maynard

Eric P. Maynard, Senior Consultant, joined Jenike & Johanson in 1996. He has published over two dozen papers on the storage, flow, and pneumatic transport of bulk solids. He lectures frequently on solids handling and pneumatic conveying through the ASME/AIChE Continuing Education Program and to individual companies. He has designed hundreds of handling systems for bulk solids, with a special focus on the Cement Industry. Eric has particular interest in crushing technologies for the minerals industry, as well as in the field of dust explosions and powder electrostatics. He is a member of ASME, AIChE, and the National Fire Protection Association. Eric received his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University and a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Presenter: Paul Solt of Pneumatic Conveying Consultants.
Paul Solt

A graduate from Lehigh University, Paul Solt started his career in Pneumatic Conveying, starting as a service technician, and progressed into a combination of research, sales and engineering positions. Twenty-five years ago he formed Pneumatic Conveying Consultants. This company is a team of professionals with over 100 years experience in the industry which offer expert solutions with proven results. He serves on Powder and Bulk Engineering magazine’s Editorial Advisory Board and is the primary author of the “Pneumatic Points to Ponder” series of editorial features regularly appearing in PBE. Paul’s vast knowledge and experience in pneumatic conveying qualifies him as one of the technical leaders in the industry.
